Arrival & Check-In

What is the best way to get to Berghaus Schröcken?

You can easily reach us by car.  Alternatively, you can travel by public transport. The nearest airports are St. Gallen-Altenrhein, Friedrichshafen, Innsbruck and Zurich. Please take note:  there is a permanent road closure between Lech and Warth during winter - detour about 200 km.

Where is the hotel located?

Berghaus Schröcken is located at an altitude of 1200 Meter above sea level in the charming village of Schröcken in Bregenzerwald and Arlberg.

What is the best way to travel by public transport?

The best way to get here by public transport is to take the train to Dornbirn and then bus Nr. 850 to Schröcken (Busstop Name: Dorf).  Current bus connections can be looked up here.

When is check-in possible?

Check-in from  4 p.m  to 8 p.m. (later arrivals - please let us know).

What can I do if I arrive early?

If you arrive early - please give us information prior to your arrival date. If available you may park your car in the car-deck and stay on the property; also use wellness area and swimming-pool (please see opening hours).

Which are the nearest airports?

The nearest airports are Friedrichshafen, Memmingen and Zurich.

Is there a winter closure between Warth and Lech?

Yes, there is a winter closure on the road between Warth and Lech. During opening hours of skilift you can connect with skis.

How do I get to Ski Arlberg and the hiking trails?

Ski Arlberg: the local shuttle bus connects every 15 Minutes (during skilift operating hours)

All other seasons - connection via public transportation (bus line 850) .. or hiking.

What do I need to bear in mind when travelling to the garage?

On arrival, please ring the bell at the info-point  (before the entrance of garage), the gate will then be opened.

What should I do if I arrive after 8 p.m.?

Please notify us in advance of any late arrivals after 8 p.m.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 4 p.m., check-out until 10 a.m.

Children

What should be included in the booking for children?

Please reserve a cot, changing mat, nappy bin, high chair and bathroom step when booking.

Where can I find information on childcare?

Are children allowed to use the pool?

Yes, children may use the pool, but only with parental supervision.

Can families use all the lounges in the pool and wellness area?

Yes, all lounges in the pool and wellness area are accessible to families. However, we ask you to be considerate of guests seeking peace and quiet.

Do children have access to the nude area?

No, children are not allowed in the nude area. We do not want any exceptions.

What is the children's workshop and how does it work?

The children's workshop is a meeting place for all kids according to the event calendar and weekly programme. This is where they make things, play and make friends.

When is the children's workshop open?

The workshop is open during childcare hours. The workshop is an open space where children can come and leave independently. If supervision is required, it must be requested in advance at reception.

However, we also make it available to guests for creative family time upon request.

Where can I borrow games and sports equipment?

Games, beach volleyball balls and boules balls can be borrowed at reception. A deposit is required for the balls.

What is available at the sand playground?

Rubber boots and mud trousers are available free of charge at the sand playground.

Are there special programmes for children?

Yes, we offer  youth and children programmes with creative workshops and adventures in nature during the summer holidays.

Organisational details

What is so special about Berghaus Schröcken?

Our Berghaus Schröcken combines the charm of a mountain hut with the comfort of a 4-star hotel. It is the perfect place for nature and mountain lovers who appreciate a cosy and friendly atmosphere. Here you will meet nice people and can enjoy nature to the full.

Is there a late check-out option?

Yes, late check-out is possible depending on availability. Please make your request ahead of time. The cost is 25,00 Euros until 2 p.m. with use of the pool (only in summer).

Can I have my luggage or car stored securely?

Yes, luggage storage is available at reception. Alternatively, you can leave your car in the underground car park.

Can I receive mail at the hotel?

Yes, you can receive mail at the hotel. We keep the mail at reception.

Which emergency numbers should I know?

In an emergency, call the ambulance, fire brigade or police on 144. For medical questions, dial 1450.

What should I do if I am locked out and the restaurant or reception is closed?

Where can I find an ironing board and an iron?

The ironing board is located next to the washing machines in the ski room. You can borrow an iron from reception.

Where can I park my bike?

In summer, you can park your bike in the ski room. Alternatively, you can park it in the underground car park or in front of the children's workshop.

What offers are there for adults?

Offers for adults such as yoga, guided hike-tours and music evenings can be found in the event calendar under this link.

Which payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, EC cards, credit cards (except AMEX) and bank transfers. Payment in advance is also possible.

When can I check in and can I deposit my luggage and car parking earlier?

Check-in is possible from 4 p.m. Earlier storage of luggage and car parking  is possible with prior arrangement.

What is the deadline for check-out?

Please check out by 10 a.m.

When is the reception desk open?

Reception is open from 7.30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Is there free WLAN and what is the password?

Yes, there is free WLAN called ‘Berghaus’. No password required.

How should I report complaints?

Please communicate any complaints immediately at reception so they can be resolved immediately.

How does the pricing work?

Pricing is dynamic, with early bookings usually having the best bargain.

What is the best way to travel by public transport?

The best way to get here by public transport is to take the train to Dornbirn and then bus Nr. 850 line to Schröcken;  Bus-stop: Schröcken-Dorf. Current bus connections can be looked up here.

Miscellaneous

How does waste separation work?

Please separate your rubbish and take it to the collection area in the parking-deck (on the left side of the exit). We separate paper, plastic, metal and residual waste.

Where can I find the nearest bus stop?

The nearest bus stop is Schröcken Dorf, directly opposite SportTraum. From there, the 852 bus runs in the direction of Lech (only until Warth during winter) or Schoppernau.

Is there a ski storage room?

Yes, for storing your ski equipment you may use the ski storage room adjoning the underground parking deck.  You will find skiboot warmers - how wonderful!

Are dogs allowed in the hotel?

Dogs are allowed only with our prior consent. There is a charge of 20 euros per day. Please remember:  dogs must be kept on a leash  on our property,  in the village and on hiking trails and must be muzzled on the bus.

Where can I rent an e-bike?

You can hire e-bikes from SportTraum Schröcken, which is just 100 metres from Berghaus. You can find the opening hours in our guest app.

Is childcare available?

Yes, we offer childcare from May to November. There are various programmes for minis (from the age of 3), creative workshops and outdoor activities for older children. You can find the exact times and programmes in our eventcalendar.

What events take place in Berghaus?

We regularly organise events, both in Berghaus and in the surrounding area. You can find details in our eventkalendar.

Is there a bread roll service?

Berghaus guests may place an order for bread at reception until 6 p.m. for the next morning and collect it there from 7.30 a.m..

Sports equipment

How do I get to the ski storage room and what can I find there?

You can access the ski storage room through the underground parking deck. There you will find boot dryers and open bunks for skis/poles, jackets and helmets. The bunks can be selected according to availability and are not permanently assigned to the flats. The ski room is under video surveillance.

Where can I rent sledges?

Sledges can be rented from the sports shops. Sledges can also be borrowed on site at the organised toboggan evenings in Schröcken and at the Dorfbahn Warth.

How is the ski storage room used in summer?

In summer, the ski storage room is used for bike and buggy storage. There is also a charging place for e-bikes.

Where can I hire a back carrier?

Back carriers can be borrowed from most sports shops.

Where can I clean and dry my hiking boots?

A brush for cleaning mountain boots is available at the Berghaus fountain. The boots can be dried in the ski storage room.

Can I hire Nordic walking poles?

Yes, Nordic walking poles can be borrowed from reception, subject to availability.

What sports equipment can I borrow free of charge from reception?

You can borrow boccia balls, volleyball, football and Viking chess from reception free of charge (deposit required).

Where can I rent bicycles?

Is there a way to wash my bike?

Yes, there is a washing facility for bicycles at the entrance to the underground parking deck.. Please report to reception.

Accommodation

What types of accommodation do you offer?

We have a variety of accommodations: Studios for 1-2 guests; Apartments for 2 -8 guests and Chalets for groups of up to 20 guests, these  are particularly popular with families and groups of friends.

Is the accommodation equipped with a kitchen?

Yes, all our accommodation have fully equipped kitchenetts or kitchens, so you may prepare meals yourself. We also offer options for stays including breakfast or halfboard.

How are the rooms equipped with bed linen and towels?

All rooms are equipped with bed linen and towels.

When are the towels changed and the bathroom cleaned in the rooms?

Every third day of your stay we will change Towels, pick-up garbage and the bathroom (toilet and washbasin) is cleaned. An additional change of towels is possible upon request anytime.

Can an intermediate cleaning of the room be ordered?

Yes, for a small fee you can request an additional cleaning of your Apartment.

What bedding is available in the flats and in the living room?

The bedding in the bedrooms is suitable for guests which suffer from allergies (no downs or feathers); however the pillows in the living room contain down/feathers.

What should I do if the pillow doesn't fit?

Please contact the reception.

Where is the waste collection and separation station located?

The waste / garbage / rubbish  station is located next to the exit of our underground parking deck.

Where can I find additional toilet paper?

Additional  toilet paper is  placed in the bathroom cabinet.

How can I use the washing machine and tumble dryer and how much does it cost?

Use of waser/dryer must be registered at reception. Charge for one use including detergent is 4,00 Euros.

Can I borrow an iron?

Yes, an iron can be borrowed free of charge at reception.

Catering

Is there a restaurant in the hotel?

Yes, our restaurant ‘Alwins Stammtisch’ offers fine, regional cuisine. Breakfast buffet is available daily between 7.30 a.m. and 10 a.m.; cost is 17,00 Euros for adults.  During the day we serve drinks and there is usually always  cake available in the afternoon. Dinner is served daily between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m..

Do you offer vegetarian options?

Yes, our restaurant also offers vegetarian dishes. We attach great importance to regional and sustainable cuisine.

When is the Alwins Stammtisch restaurant open and when do you serve hot meals?

The Alwins Stammtisch restaurant is open from 7.30 a.m. to 9 p.m., with hot food available from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

How much does the breakfast buffet cost and when is it available?

Price for  breakfast buffet is  is 17,- euros (20,- euros if you book on sight) for adults.  Our prices for children are 5,- euros for small children between 2-5,  10,- euros for children between 6-10 and 14,- euros for children between 11-14.

What does the dinner menu for house guests include and how much does it cost?

The dinner menu for house guests includes soup/salad and a main course (classic or vegetarian) and start at 25 euros for adults. It must be pre-ordered daily by 12 p.m. noon the latest.

Can I take dinner to the room?

Take-out order to your apartment is possible. Please confirm availabilty for dinner take-out no later than 12 p.m..

Is lactose-free and gluten-free food available?

Yes, lactose-free and gluten-free food is avaiable.  Please beware - in case you suffer from severe allergies - our kitchen is small and  traces of various foods may be present (we do not have a special kitchen where lactose- and gluten-free meals are prepared)

How are the kitchens in the apartments equipped?

All kitchens are equipped with a steam oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, spacious fridge with freezer compartment, sink, cooker hood, Nespresso machine and kettle.

Are there food or spices in the apartment kitchens?

No, there is no food or spices in the kitchens.

What coffee facilities are available in the apartments?

There is a Nespresso machine with trial capsules. Organic capsules can be purchased in the hotel shop. French press pots are available at reception for filter coffee.

Where can I order and collect first-class bread?

Bread from Backstube Lech can be ordered at reception until 6 p.m. the evening before and collected from 7.30 a.m. at reception the next morning.

The *Spar Markt* Schröcken is 100m away from Berghaus. Current opening hours you can find here.

Does the restaurant make special offers for special occasions?

Yes, for special occasions we are happy to make an offer for fine, multi-course menus or culinary specialties.

Hiking

Who creates customized tour tips for the guests?

The hotel`s own hiking guide Andi creates customized tour tips free of charge. Appointments can be made at reception.

When do guided tours with the hiking guide take place?

Guided tours with the hotel`s own hiking guide take place every day except Wednesday and Saturday from mid-June to mid-October. There are different fitness levels.

Where can I store and dry my hiking boots?

Hiking boots can be stored and dried in the ski storage room - adjoining the underground parking deck.

Can I hire Nordic-Walking poles?

Yes, Nordic-Walking poles can be borrowed free of charge from reception, subject to availability.

Which hikes start directly from the house?

Hikes to picturesque high valleys and wonderful mountain lakes start directly from the house. Note that these hikes are not accessible during winter.

How can I order a hiking snack?

A hiking snack (classic or vegetarian) can be ordered at reception for next days hiking.

What advantages does the Bregenzerwald Guest Card offer?

The Bregenzerwald Guest Card entitles you to free use of bus routes 830, 850 and 110 between Bregenz/ Dornbirn and Lech (only until Warth during winter) as well as the mountain railroads and swimming pools in the Bregenzerwald between Alberschwende and  Warth (not Lech).

What cab services are available for hikes?

The health-hotline 1450 provides information on questions relating to symptoms of illness or injuries and recommends the right doctor or the nearest pharmacy.

Which peaks can be reached directly from Berghaus?

A total of 9 wonderful peaks can be reached directly from the Berghaus. During winter most hiking trails are not accessible but there are tracked hiking trails in Warth  for example at the Hochtannbergpass.

What activities can I do during my stay?

There are a variety of activities depending on the season. In winter you can go skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing and snowshoeing. In summer we offer guided hikes, mountain biking, paragliding and much more. We also have a wellness area with sauna and heated outdoor pool.

Wellness

What wellness facilities are there?

Our wellness area includes a bio sauna, a steam bath, a sanarium and a heated outdoor pool. The sauna, sanarium and steam bath are open daily from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Bathrobes can be borrowed from reception for 5 euros.

How big is the infinity pool and when is it open?

The infinity pool is 11x5 meters in size, has a water temperature of 32°C and is open daily from 3p.m. to 9p.m. For early-swimmers, the pool is open on request from 7a.m. to 9 a.m.

Where can I get towels an bathrobes?

Towels are available in the sauna area. Bathrobes are available at reception for a rental fee of 5 euros.

Can I buy slippers on site?

Yes, you can buy  slippers for 3 euros.

Are there rules regarding clothing in the sauna area and pool?

Yes, the sauna are is a nude zone, swimwear is mandatory in the pool area

Are children allowed to use the pool?

Yes, children may use the pool, but only with parental supervision.

Children (up to 15 years) are not allowed in the nude zone of the sauna area.

Can I take food and drinks into the pool?

No, taking food and drinks into the pool in prohibited.

Are dogs allowed in the wellness area?

No, dogs are not allowed on the wellness floor including the outdoor pool area.

Winter

How do I get to the ski area?

A shuttle bus takes guests to the Hochtannberg Pass every 15 minutes. Saloberjet is the nearest ski lift and one of the many ski stations of Ski Arlberg. The bus ride takes about 10 minutes. The shuttle stop is about 100 metres from Berghaus (located right next to Spar-Markt).

How far away is the nearest slope?

The nearest slopes are 309 & 310, they end about 200m from Berghaus.

What makes Ski Arlberg special?

Ski Arlberg is famous for its excellent snow conditions and guaranteed snow even in late winter. It is the largest ski area in Austria with 88 lifts and cable cars, over 300 kilometres of slopes and endless freeride slopes.

Where is the nearest ski school?

The nearest ski school is the Schröcken-Salober ski school with a meeting point at the Saloberjet. We recommend reservation of ski lessons well in advance.

Is there a toboggan (sledge) run nearby?

Yes, the toboggan (sledge) run is open every Wednesday evening. There are other toboggan runs in Warth.

Where are the winter hiking trails located?

Winter hiking trails are located on the Hochtannberg Pass, from the Jägeralpe to the Körbersee.

Are there cross-country ski trails nearby?

Yes, there are cross-country ski trails on the Hochtannberg Pass. These are welll groomed but some of them are  very challenging.

Where can you go sledging?

There is a sledging hill in the village behind the church in Schröcken and in the area of the Saloberkopf ski station.

Is there a ski kindergarten?

Yes, we recommend  Skischool  Salober-Schröcken, which includes an excellent children's area. The ski school's beginners' area is not open to the public with a familiar face: our hiking guide Andi is in charge of the beginners area.

Where can i park?

Large car parks are available at the Salober and Jägeralpe valley stations. We recommend taking the shuttle bus and the slope 309& 310 back to the village.

Are there manmade slopes (artificial snow)?

Yes, every major lift has at least one manmade slopes (artificial snow). The snow-making facilities have been continuously expanded.

When is the ski season?

December 6th 2024 is the start to  winter/season and ends April 21st  2025. Berghaus is open until April 27th 2025.

Are snowshoe hikes organised?

Yes, guided snowshoe hikes are organised by the Schröcken tourist office.

How can I plan ski tours?

We recommend the mountain and ski guides in the region for planning ski tours. A great option for a guide is Markus Moosbrugger "Moses".
